FUNDRAISING CONCERT - DON'T FORGET UKRAINE!
Medical Life Lines Ukraine organised a concert featuring a line-up of professional Ukrainian musicians at St Margaret's Church, Putney on Sunday, 21st April.
We did not charge for this concert but hoped to raise a significant amount of money to support the beleaguered Ukrainians, whose plight had worsened. Our goal was to raise enough funds to replace some of the hospital equipment destroyed in Russian attacks. We asked attendees to consider how much they might pay for a concert at The Wigmore Hall or Cadogan Hall (or even a performance at The Royal Opera House!) and to contribute generously, reminding them that getting to Putney and finding parking was far less stressful.
The church was packed, standing room only, and £13,500 was raised from this "free" concert!
Thoughts and messages from our wonderful audience:
"It was an absolutely amazing concert on Sunday. We absolutely loved every minute and couldn’t believe such talent in so many young people. Well done to all of you!"
“Thank you so much for the amazing concert and special thanks for this letter! I cannot even explain in words how much it means for us to have an opportunity to help you somehow. Your wonderful team is a role model - at a time when people and charity organisations are tired and give up, you not only keep helping Ukraine, but also increase assistance. For us this is also a sign that we should go ahead and, looking at you, we will not give up.”
“The concert on Sunday was a real triumph. Amazing variety of talent and you managed to fill the church.”
“Thank you so much the whole occasion was absolutely stunning, incredibly talented musicians, such a wonderful choice of pieces and heartfelt rendering - a totally moving experience leaving us feeling a real sense of humanity and love.
